Symptoms of self-sabotage

Self-sabotage can be a tricky thing to identify and leave behind. If you recognize any of the following behaviors in yourself, then it may be time for some reevaluation:

  • obsessing over negative thoughts
  • being anxious about uncontrollable factors
  • engaging in people pleasing or seeking validation from others
  • filling your day with distractions like food, shopping, or learning more than necessary
  • constantly feeling rushed off your feet
  • saying ‘yes’ too often when you want to say no – all while having difficulty connecting with your inner emotions

I am here ready and willing to help guide you toward releasing these self-destructive habits holding you back.

Causes of self-sabotage

Self-sabotage can manifest in many ways, from setting ourselves up for failure to creating situations that we know aren’t good for us but still doing them anyway. It’s important to recognize when these behaviors are present so that you don’t become stuck and unable to reach your goals.

My clients recently explored the underlying causes of self-sabotaging behaviors, discovering that a lack of self-worth and confidence coupled with negative body image can prevent one from prioritizing necessary time for their own care. These outcomes often have damaging effects on physical health as well as emotional well-being.

It can be incredibly traumatic to experience abuse, neglect, and abandonment as a child. Many women feel disconnected from their bodies and their wisdom without the ability to express one’s needs in these situations.

As such, they may struggle with trusting their own responses or instincts – like whether they’re hungry/thirsty/tired, etc. – for fear of being overruled again by an external force.

Stop Self Sabotage

I work with my clients on mental decluttering exercises to provide them with a safe place to feel connected enough within themselves to explore any self-sabotage patterns.  These patterns are lingering due to unresolved trauma.  We work together to create ways to foster inner trust once more.

Knowing how you might be self-sabotaging and having a plan in place to keep it from happening is essential for success. With proper focus, you gain the power to get through anything.

Releasing stress and finding balance can help your body’s natural wisdom come alive so that you’re not just surviving, but thriving! Feeling relaxed and centered will empower you on your journey of self-discovery.

You don’t have to do it alone. Contact me for your dynamic self-assessment checklist.
